Danny Weinstein

Danny is an active SF Bay Area trombonist with groups such as the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony (BARS) and the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band (SFLGFB). He has performed at two presidential inaugurals with the Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA). Besides these larger groups, he performs as a trumpeter in the Oakland-based Brassavola Brass Quintet.
Danny spends his free time traveling with his spouse Dean. As Dean is a botanist, they often head to nature destinations in search of rare and endemic plants. They have especially enjoyed their visits to London, Andalusia (Spain), the Canary Islands (Spain), Fiji, Yucatan (Mexico), Crater Lake (Oregon), the Grand Canyon (Arizona), Rome/Florence (Italy), and Sicily (Italy).
While growing up, Danny achieved the Eagle Scout rank and served as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. While earning his undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Michigan, he was given the Cooley Writing Award, was initiated into the Mortar Board society, and played in the Michigan Marching Band. He’s earned two graduate degrees, the first in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and the second in Multimedia from California State University, East Bay. The San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band presented Danny with the Jon Sims Award for almost three years’ service as their President as well as his other volunteer contributions. In his career, he has received awards from the largest of companies (CSC Technical Excellence Award) and the smallest (2011 San Jose Mobile Startup Camp (1st place), 2011 San Francisco Startup Weekend (2nd place), and 2011 San Francisco Lean Startup Machine (1st place).
