The San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band (SFLGFB) will present “Fables & Fantasy” at Everett Middle School in San Francisco and Peace Lutheran Church in Danville. “Fables & Fantasy” is the season’s first performance of SFLGFB’s award-winning Community Concert Series. “Fables & Fantasy” will musically transport the audience to the realms of trolls, dragons and forest gods– where animals talk and small people accomplish great feats.

This extraordinary musical program is built around Julie Giroux’s “Symphony of Fables.” Giroux’s background of composing for T.V. and film, brings to life five time treasured classics to include: “The Lion and the Mouse,” “The Pied Piper of Hamelin,” “ The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Ugly Duckling,” and “ The Three Billy Goats Gruff.” The audience will be treated to a reading of each fable preceding the musical performance.

A world of fantasy will be brought forth in Joe Hisaishi’s incredible score for the popular anime film, “Princess Mononoke”; Steven Reineke’s monumental tone poem, “Pilatus; Mountain of Dragons,” and the music from Disney’s fantasy video game, ‘Kingdom Hearts.”

“Fables & Fantasy” will be a magical concert you will not want to miss – see you there!
