San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade
Sunday, June 26, 2016 – 10:30 am
Parade Start: Market and Beale / Finish: Market and Eighth
2016 marks the 46th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade and the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band will again be proudly marching the parade.
The 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, wrote a new chapter for all LGBT people in our country! On June 28, 1970 the first ever Pride marches were held throughout our nation in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago and we have been marching and celebrating ever since! This year’s theme for the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade is “For Racial and Economic Equality.”
The San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade will be held over the weekend of June 25 & 26, 2016, in downtown San Francisco in Civic Center at the foot of San Francisco’s historic City Hall where Harvey Milk once stood and addressed Pride-goers more than three decades ago. The Parade will begin promptly at 10:30 am on Sunday morning (June 26) and will kick off from Beale Street along Market and will end at Market and 8th Street in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade is the largest LGBT gathering in the nation. San Francisco Pride has been said to be “one of the last remaining pride events that can truly be called a rite of passage.” We hope to see you there!
