Dance-Along Nutcracker® — December 2013

Shiver me timbers! There be pirates in this ballet!

Find adventure on the high seas when Clara and Fritz and Pirate Captain Drosselmeyer sail the Black Sugar Plum searching for gold in the waters off the Yerba Buena. You’ll search with the crew for the lost treasure of Peglegs Tchaikovsky as the audience dances along.

Sugar Plum wannabes, step on up! Everyone’s a star at the Dance-Along Nutcracker, where you concoct your own choreography as the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band performs Fantasia favs from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet. Captain’s Ball Gala! features a pre-voyage party with dancing and cocktails with holiday hors d’oeuvres.

At the Dance-Along Nutcracker, you and your audience crewmates are the stars. When the sails are set and the anchor’s hoisted, you may find yourself pirouetting past Captain Jack Sparrow, crossing blades with Long John Silver or digging for buried treasure on Treasure Island.

Bring the kids to a daytime show or treat yourself to the Captain’s Ball Gala, and enjoy one of San Francisco’s most unique holiday traditions. Even wallflowers love it!
